Our Need to Purchase Gold

Wade E Taylor

I counsel you to buy of Me gold tried in the fire, that you may be rich; and white raiment, that you may be clothed, and that the shame of your nakedness do not appear; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.”  Revelation 3:18

This advice is the final word of correction that is spoken by Jesus to the Church.  The “gold” that is to be purchased is not monetary provision, but our partaking of the “divine nature.”

“By which He has granted to us His precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”  II Peter 1:4 ESV

“For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones.”  Ephesians 5:30

We are called to live and function in the realm of the Spirit.  To those who are coming short of this, there is a corrective word – “I counsel you to buy of Me gold that you may be rich….”

Cultivating a Spiritual Atmosphere

Wade E Taylor

Heaven, most certainly, is a place.  In a larger sense, Heaven is more than a place; it is an “atmosphere.”  We may be asked, “Where is heaven?”  A specific location cannot be given, but we can say with confidence, “Heaven is where the Lord is.”

Or, we may be asked, “Where is the Lord?”  Again, we can say with confidence, “He is here, present in our midst.”

“For where two or three are gathered together in My name, there am I in the midst of them.”  Matthew 18:20

When the Lord brought forth His highest creation, Adam and Eve, He placed them in a special “environment” which He called, “The Garden of Eden.”  We have an idealistic image of the beauty that was within this garden, yet it was more than just a beautiful place.  It was a God created “atmosphere” that was intended to bring forth the very best from the potential for communion and fellowship that the Lord had created within Adam and Eve.

“And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden, in the cool of the day….  Genesis 3:8
