Because we want to see God’s purposes fulfilled in strong marriages and families, we are happy to be offering support for marriages with a workshop based on the book The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work by Dr. John Gottman.
The fundamental goal of this workshop is to strengthen the friendship and trust that are the heart of any marriage. The workshop provides tools to help couples:
- Improve friendship, fondness, and admiration
- Enhance intimacy
- Manage conflict constructively
- Gain skills to address perpetual and solvable problems
- Create shared meaning
- Maintain gains
Building these skills is helpful whether you are in a new relationship or have been married for decades! This workshop is designed to educate, and then guide you to develop new skills. It includes lectures and private assignments for couples. It does not involve sharing problems in front of others. Each participant will need a Couples Guide for the workshop.
Allen is available to meet with groups of four or more couples, either in person or virtually. The workshop can be given in several formats. The full workshop consists of eight 90-minute modules, which can be done in a 2-day intensive or in a once-a-week format. In cases where the full workshop is impractical, 2-hour, 4-hour, and 6-hour options are available.
