Father’s Day Reflections

Nancy Taylor Tate

Recently I was recounting some of the things the Lord did when we were first sent to the Washington D.C. area many years ago. It’s hard to believe over 30 years have gone by! As I looked back, I saw the faithfulness of God. I saw His leading and working, the many small steps that led, one by one, to the place God has us today.

With Father’s Day coming up, I want to give thanks for my dad, Wade Taylor, and for the truths and understanding he shared with the body of Christ. These truths impacted my life as well. Truths that helped me grow, gave me vision, and helped me follow the leading of the Lord. Truths that became integrated into my way of thinking and the decisions I made. Truths that became experientially mine through life, as I sought the Lord and found Him, regardless of circumstance.

I’m thankful for the understanding of a personal relationship with the Lord – that it’s available if we will but go after it.

I’m thankful for the understanding of cultivating a sensitivity to the presence of the Lord, that there might be an impartation of revelation and understanding into our lives.

I’m thankful for the understanding of becoming sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit, that we might be led by Him and seek His guidance.

I’m thankful for the understanding of an overcoming life. That the call is always to come, to be with Him. That as we spend time with Him, there comes an empowering to “be” or “become” a witness unto Him.

I’m thankful for the understanding that salvation is a gift, but then we must take up our cross and follow after the Lord.

I’m thankful for the understanding that authority is something we must qualify for. Jesus, filled with the Holy Spirit, was led into the wilderness where He was tested; afterwards, He returned in the power of the Spirit.

I’m thankful for that understanding of a people who God is raising up today, for His end-time glory. That though at times it seems darkness prevails, we have an expectation and a hope of God’s glory being seen in the earth today.

I’m thankful for the understanding that there is a plan, a purpose for our lives! That we can pray and believe to apprehend that for which we have been apprehended.

What a difference these truths have made in my life! As we celebrate Father’s Day this month, I thank the Lord for my dad’s impact on my life, and the lives of others.

I honor my dad for his heart toward the Lord, and his ministry. He was one who was not afraid to say “I’m sorry.” He always desired to grow in his walk with the Lord and in truth and understanding. He honored the presence of the Lord and invited Him to work in his own life. I was blessed to share many seasons of life with him; none would I trade. His messages are just a shadow of his walk with the Lord.

May you continue to be blessed through the truths he shared, freely found on our website as well as other places, as you continue to seek after the Lord in your own life.

May we also give thanks for the foundation that has been laid in our lives. May we build with care, as we continue in our walks the Lord.

I want to also give thanks for my husband, who is a wonderful father. And thanks for my son, who is a wonderful father, too!

May the Lord continue to raise up godly fathers! We honor and celebrate you today. May the Lord bless you always and keep you in His care.
