Beautiful Feet

Nancy Taylor Tate

How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:15 AMP

Feet can be anything but beautiful, showing their years of faithful service. Yet the Word says our feet are beautiful when we bring the good news of the gospel to others.

There is so much bad news out there today. How wonderful that we can turn our thoughts to good news – the fact that God loves us; He has a plan and purpose; He will never leave us or forsake us; He is all-powerful; He sits on the throne; His purposes will be fulfilled!

Some tend to focus on the traumas of life rather than on the good things. Yet the Bible tells us, “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things” Philippians 4:8.

The Amplified Bible expresses it like this: “Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

In any weather, I can open the door of my multi-function office/utility room just enough to see outside. Today as I write, I see the different colors of green in the trees. I can see flowering trees, a beautiful blue sky and fluffy clouds, dandelions growing in the grass. How colorful they are! How much beauty there is if we will but look for it!

It is our choice to see the glass half empty or half full. It’s not that we don’t care, engage in, or pray about things going on politically and socially. God cares about all these things. We are to be partakers together with Him, one with Him. But He is the head; we are the body. He’s God; we’re not! As we come before His throne in faith, believing for His ultimate purpose to be fulfilled, may we also find joy, as He does, in the good things that are around us.

The Scriptures say we are the salt of the earth (Matthew 5:13). Salt adds flavor to food, making it more tasty; it also has preserving qualities. When the Lord looks at the earth, He does not just see all that grieves Him. He also sees that “salt” which He takes pleasure in – our lives, our worship, as He finds faith in the earth – those who are putting their trust in Him, submitting to His inner working, and becoming one with Him, that He might find expression through them.

May we too, find that which we can take pleasure in, and focus on that, giving thanks to the Lord, for He is good! He is all powerful and all knowing. He sits on the throne! His purpose will be fulfilled. If you look at the end of the Book, He wins! He is victorious and triumphant! And so are His people!

How beautiful are your feet as you bring the good news of the gospel to others – not only believing in your own heart, but taking the time to encourage someone else. May the Lord lead you to someone you can speak a word of life to! May that light shining in you touch others for His glory. May God bless you today…and bless others through you!
