A Thankful Heart

Nancy Taylor Tate

What a beautiful wintry view as I looked out our windows this week. As I stood there watching cars creep through the snow, I was so thankful that our Parousia Gathering was last week, not this week! That I could enjoy the beauty from the warmth of my window perspective.

Today my heart continues to give thanks as I think of His faithfulness, time after time, all through the years. Times of testing, times of blessing – we all will have some of both! (I talk about this more on our website, www.wadetaylor.org under Messages to Hear, #5: Awakened to His Love Song.)

Yet how faithful God is in every season! I can not only quote a scripture verse, but say from experience that truly “and we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” Romans 8:28.

Who are the called? Scripture makes it clear “the called” are ALL those who have put their faith and trust in God (Acts 2:21; 1 Corinthians 1:24).

Is everything always easy? No, in this world we are dealing with less than perfect circumstances (John 16:33). But the Lord is bringing forth an overcoming, triumphant people in whom the fragrance of His presence is being made known in every place (2 Corinthians 2:14-15).

What is my poise of spirit? I believe that He is! That He is present and active in my life. That He has a plan and a purpose! That He loves those who love Him. That there is a blessing as I watch and wait for His movings, as I put my trust in Him.

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him Hebrews 11:6.

Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord” Proverbs 8:34-35.

Notice in Romans 8:28 the word “and.” Verse 27 speaks of the intercession of the Holy Spirit for us according to the will of God. “And,” verse 28, “we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.”

May we give thanks to the Lord for His faithfulness and for the intercession of His Holy Spirit for you and for me. For all the Lord is doing both in and through our lives.

May the blessing of the Lord rest upon you as you continue to spend quality times apart in His presence, then practice His presence day by day. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” Philippians 1:6.
